Available at dealerships from 27 March 2010: Sales start of the E-Class Cabriolet
OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE
Stuttgart, Germany, Jan 11, 2010 With the introduction of the new Cabriolet, the current Mercedes E-Class family is now complete. Sales of the model are scheduled to start in Europe on 11 January 2010. The open-top four-seater Cabriolet is expected to be on display in dealership showrooms from 27 March, and will also be celebrating its world premiere at the Detroit Motorshow from 11 January 2010.
With its innovative automatic AIRCAP draught-stop, enhanced AIRSCARF neck-level heating and also acoustic cabriolet soft top, which comes as standard, the new E-Class Cabriolet provides a level of all-year-round comfort which is unique in the open-top car segment. For the sales start, the powerful and efficient engines available for the model will range from the E 220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY producing 125 kW (170 hp), through to the E 500 producing 285 kW (388 hp). Prices start at 47,719 euros for the E 220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY, or 48,016.50 euros for the E 200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY (135 kW/184 hp) with automatic transmission. From June 2010 this model will also be available with a 6-speed manual transmission and ECO start/stop function as standard for a price of 45,815 euros.
"With the new Cabriolet, we are rounding off the introduction of the new E-Class with an extra dose of emotion. The innovative AIRCAP and enhanced AIRSCARF systems enable four people to enjoy open-top motoring all year round", explains Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars.

Mercedes-Benz has now combined the two innovative AIRCAP and AIRSCARF systems - which are also available separately - in the so-called Cabriolet Comfort package for a price of 1249.50 euros. The automatic AIRCAP draught-stop system can be extended at the touch of a button and significantly reduces turbulence in the vehicle interior. AIRCAP comprises two components: a draught deflector with net incorporated into the windscreen frame which can be extended by six centimetres, and a draught-stop between the rear seat head restraints. The AIRSCARF neck-level heating system is built into the front seat backrests and blows warm air through openings in the head restraints. In the new E-Class Cabriolet, the outlet vents can be swivelled up and down by 36 degrees.
Thanks to its acoustic cabriolet soft top fitted as standard, when closed the E-Class Cabriolet has one of the quietest interiors in the segment of four-seater premium cabriolets. The high-quality insulation in the soft top has a significantly noticeable effect on reducing sound levels in the vehicle interior compared with conventional soft tops.
In March 2009 Mercedes-Benz embarked on the renewal of the E-Class model family - one year later, with the market launch of the Cabriolet, the portfolio will be complete. More than 130,000 customers have opted for a model from the new series since its market launch. In 2009 the E-Class Saloon is leader in its segment worldwide.
