Porsche Of Halifax 2009 Rally

On May 24th, I had the pleasure of playing navigator for my friend Gordon�s beautiful raspberry 2008 Boxster on a Porsche Rally organized by Porsche of Halifax.

It was a well-prepared and well-attended event, featuring Boxsters, Caymans, Cayennes, 911 Turbos, Carrera 4Ss and Carreras, 21 Porsches in all. Even with the cool wind, and the spotty rain, it was still a fun event.

Each driver/navigator was given a list of directions, quiz questions, and route maps to help them along. The route started at the base of historic Point Pleasant Park in Halifax, snaked it�s way through the historic downtown, then across the Harbour through to Eastern Passage, up along the coast, past Lawrencetown Beach to finish at Porter�s Lake Provincial Park & Campground.

At key points along the whole route, we had questions to answer on the sheets, relating to your knowledge of Nova Scotia, past and present. The most right answers were rewarded with a beautiful Porsche 911 watch. Gord is a good, enthusiastic driver, so it was fun to ride shotgun with him.

Once arrived at Porters Lake, we were treated to a beautiful buffet lunch provided by the well-known and respected caterer Scanway. It was delicious!








I met someone really wonderful people, and had lots of fun. My hat goes off to Steve Archibald of Porsche of Halifax and his great team for pulling off a successful event.

I hope there will be more like it!

2009 MotoGP Jerez Spain: The Doctor First Victory in 2009

Valentino Rossi First VictoryValentino Rossi beat host of Dani Pedrosa at the Jerez circuit on the MotoGP Spain, Sunday (2009/May/03). "The Doctor" also get its first victory in this season. Starting the race from fourth position, Rossi break Pedrosa hope to ascend the top podium in front of the supporting. Vale continued to lead from the start until mid-race, Pedrosa down position should start lap 17.

Since Rossi is unbearable and finish number one, and get the first victory in this season. In two previous series of Fiat Yamaha Team is only a runner up in Qatar and Japan. Meanwhile, Pedrosa, champion season in Jerez, must be satisfied in second place, followed by Casey Stoner in the ranking of three. In the meantime, Rossi grab top position from Jorge Lorenzo with 65 points. Lorenzo failed to complete their own race because of drop in the four-lap final.

With 123,340 spectators, Pedrosa and Stoner smoothly in its start. They take the pole position of the position held Lorenzo, at the first bend, when the race started. Rossi stalk in fourth place, followed by Randy de Puniet and Colin Edwards. This position does not change much until the first lap is completed. On the second lap Rossi successfully defeated Lorenzo is a fellow partner in the Fiat Yamaha Team, to take a three-position front. Not long after he, Stoner, Pedrosa and start the competition involved tight, in the forefront of the group.

Behind them is quite exciting race going on between De Puniet, Loris Capirossi and Edwards. Rossi continues to chase after the fifth lap Stoner able to pass. But it's not long, because the track straight towards a junction Stoner to counterattack to take place earlier. Duel Rossi and Stoner continue to occur, and in the sixth lap Rossi wins again. 2009 MotoGP Motegi Japan

2009 MotoGP Motegi JapanWorld MotoGP champion, Valentino Rossi finish second in the circuit Motegi, Japan, Sunday (2009/4/26). That started the race without qualifying session Saturday because of heavy rain yesterday to take the ongoing dry qualifying results from Friday practice sessions.

Not the usual "Vale" to a bad start, this time go directly to Rossi at the front of the start. Rossi is able to lead the race until mid-race before eventually defeated by Lorenzo who is a friend of his team in the Fiat Yamaha Team.

Towards the end of the race lap Rossi and Pedrosa had a fight to grab the second position. It appears that, Rossi still want to give the action on race day with the turnover frequency for the second position. Maximum racing action going on in some of the last curve, Rossi defeating Pedrosa to fight with Lorenzo. The distance between the "X-fuera" with "The Doctor" that reaches over 2 seconds can be pursued only half. As a result, until the end of the race, Rossi is not able to overcome Lorenzo. Finally, Lorenzo and sweep the race followed by Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa at Motegi in 2009.

2009 MotoGP Losail Qatar

MotoGP Losail Qatar 2009MotoGP Series beginning in 2009 finally held in Qatar on Monday was canceled because after the storm on Sunday due to rain which is very swift. 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000

Suzuki has revealed its 2009 superbike, the GSX-R 1000. Prior to its presentation in Paris, the Global Suzuki site had already published the characteristics of this new bike.

The main novelty is the 59mm engine, shorter than that of the 2007 and 2008 models. The wheel base has been reduced by 10mm, and with a longer fork, the weight distribution and traction have been improved. This means the GSX-R 2000 is a more agile bike, and gives greater performance over mixed courses.

The compression ratio has been increased, though Suzuki is not prepared to reveal its secrets here. The bore and stroke has been changed to 74.5mm and 57.3mm (previously 73.4mm and 59mm), and the bike includes a bigger radiator and with a redesigned titanium exhaust.

Forged pistons have been used, from the endurance championship models, while braking is controlled by two 310mm discs and twin radial-mount monobloc calipers.

New styling is designed to reduce turbulence and drag, giving greater riding feel, with a comfortable seat and lighter fuel tank. Other aspects include new multi-reflector headlights and instrument panel.









A little faster, a little lighter, a little more powerful and a little smaller than before. But these are evolutionary, not revolutionary changes. The 2009 Yamaha R1 has its crossplane crankshaft. The 2009 Honda CBR1000RR has ABS.

2009 Triumph Daytona 675

February 2, 2009 - Triumph�s award-winning Daytona 675 has been revised and updated for 2009 with a host of modifications that improve on the bike�s class-leading handling and performance.

The bike that caused such a stir by becoming the first three-cylinder machine to enter the Supersport class now weighs in at just 356 pounds and develops 126 BHP.

�Triumph has taken an evolutionary approach with the Daytona by applying experience from racing in the 2008 Supersport World Championship directly to the street version of the Daytona 675,� said Jim Callahan, North American Marketing Manager for Triumph Motorcycles.

�The same technology that was used so successfully on the Supersport racing machines is now available as standard equipment on the 2009 production models that are in Triumph dealers across the country right now.�

The 2009 model�s 675cc three cylinder engine utilizes a rev limit that is 450rpm higher than the 2008 model and features the hydraulic cam chain tensioner and higher ratio first gear. The racing-inspired parts were formerly available as race kit options through Triumph dealers.

The bike also features a lighter exhaust system, a recalibrated fuel injection system and a revised cylinder head with new valves and a modified combustion chamber. These adjustments contribute to a seven-horsepower increase that brings power output to 126 bhp at 12,600rpm. The additional 450 rpm allows the engine to rev to a 13,950rpm redline.

New, lighter wheels give significant savings in unsprung weight and further help the bike�s excellent handling characteristics. A new magnesium cam cover also contributes to the weight-saving as a further benefit to racers and track day enthusiasts.

As could be expected from a bike with a racing pedigree, the Daytona 675 comes equipped with top-of-the-line suspension and brakes. The fully-adjustable 41mm upside down forks and rear monoshock unit both benefit from highly sophisticated high and low speed damping control, allowing riders to set their Daytona up with maximum accuracy.

New radial-mount Nissin monobloc front brakes give even greater levels of stopping power and rider feedback. Even the latest Pirelli SuperCorsa SP tires have been specified for their outstanding levels of both grip and feedback.

But it�s not just the performance that�s been enhanced � the 2009 Daytona 675 has also been restyled with a new cockpit, headlamp and screen. It comes in two color options, Jet Black and Tornado Red, and will come with a full range of official accessories.

The Triumph race kit and a new �plug and play� quick-shifter that are part of Triumph�s genuine accessories range will help assure the Daytona 675 will be competitive on the track at all levels, from club to world championship.
