Hamilton, stripped off points in the Australian GP
FIA officials have organised today at Sepang a new meeting in which they have reanalyzed the Sunday incident that involved drivers Lewis Hamilton from McLaren and Jarno Trulli from Toyota. A set of audio transmissions between Hamilton and his team, in which the driver was instructed to let Trulli regain third position while the safety car was running on the circuit, has recently come to light. This evidence is completely contradictory to the statement issued by Lewis Hamilton and team manager David Ryan at the first meeting, who told to the stewards that neither the team has instructed Hamilton on how to tackle the situation nor the driver has received any audio message during those moments, thus misleading the FIA officials into offering a favourable decision for the British driver and team.
As a conclusion, Lewis Hamilton and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes have been disqualified from the Australian F1 GP, losing all the 6 points they gained after the first decision, whereas Jarno Trulli has regained the 3rd position, taking back the 6 points he has lost in favour of Hamilton and McLaren.
At this moment, Lewis Hamilton and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes have 0 points.
