The test prototypes used for the third generation of medium-sized SUV in the Mercedes-Benz lineup have recently entered the final experimental phase or FEP. More camo has been pilled off and now we get a clearer pictures of the exterior design details the new M-Klasse will bring on with it.
All in all, this model, as in the case of the future B-Klasse, will also be an evolution of the current car. A big 2- or 3-perforated slats grille, an imposing front bumper with generous air intakes and a handy protection shield, as well as round-shaped, LED-based headlights, are on the list. The tail will receive E-Klasse-inspired lamps, whereas the compact side profile will boast dynamic styling lines. One thing is not yet clear: why on Earth does Mercedes-Benz want to continue on the path of the cheap-looking double-fog lights, even with this new ML?
The interior will be a very attractive place to spend time in. The dashboard emphasizes strength via powerful lines and premium appointments such as the big slab of wood or metal, the chromed touches and the stitched-leather upholstery. A bigger display for the COMAND system, as well as a new center control panel, are also expected. The first details and pictures will be released in the summer of 2011; the official unveiling of the M-Klasse will take at next year's IAA in Frankfurt.
