Points Swap between Busch and Hornish, Approved

Penske Racings plans to transfer owner points from Kurt Busch to Sam Hornish, has recently been agreed to by NASCAR. Kurt Busch, who joined Penske Racing last 2005, has a track record of good races and stellar performances. Hornish, a three time Indinanapolis 500 racing champion will be moving to NASCAR and joining Penske Racing next season. A grateful Hornish thanked Busch for his generosity during the Penske holiday party.

Robin Pemberton, vice president of competition for NASCAR, had signed the agreement for Penske. Bud Denker, senior vice president of Penske Racing, believes that the move would greatly help Hornishs entry into stock car racing. He says, ``This would obviously help Sam as he prepares to run the first five racesWith a champion like Kurt Busch and the opportunity to utilize (the points), anyone would be foolish to not take care of the situation.

The decision to transfer owner points from Kurt Busch to Sam Hornish was done in an effort to give Hornish a better chance at qualifying for the first five races. NASCAR has seen many newbie race car drivers, who missed early races and never recovered. The points swap was done in an effort to ensure that Hornish will be able to race competitively in his first full Sprint Cup season.

Penske Racing believes that the points swap will give Hornish an advantage over open wheel drivers like Jacques Villeneuve and Patrick Carpentier.
