Thats right kids, NASCAR is also a sport were comebacks can be made. Just ask Joe Gibbs who, after his stint with the NFL, has hinted on returning to Joe Gibbs Racing, the team he created in 1992. Gibbs tendered his resignation as head coach of the Washington Redskins on January 8, but according to reports, he may still stay on as a special adviser to Daniel Snyder, team owner of the Redskins.
Gibbs has not stated what type of role he will take upon his return but according to Kyle Busch, the newest driver under Joe Gibbs Racing, he would like to see Gibbs get involved directly with the team. "I think it would be pretty cool," Busch said. "(Crew chief Steve) Addington told me early today that whenever you really need something or want something, you'd just go to Joe, and he's like, 'Fine, do whatever you need. We'll figure out a way to pay for it later.' That will pay dividends for us, just being able to go out there and get what we need when we need it. Wow, buy now, pay later. Thats nice.
Whether he wins an award for comeback of the year remains to be seen but given his track record of winning titles (four NFC titles, three SuperBowl titles and three NASCAR championships), winning the award and another NASCAR championship doesnt seem far fetched.
